Irene is sweet, fun loving grandmother like the ones on tv shows. Of course, in reality, many have a nasty temper. Irene is different. She is a kind hearted soul who would give up something for herself for others. She's an elderly Christian woman who is strong in her faith, and certain acts the part about generosity.

Irene has lived a pretty normal life. She got married at the age of 19, changing her last name from Steele to Hathaway, she lived quietly and comfortably, and raised her children well. She was always a church goer and a strong Christian. Nothing really new went on as she raised the kids, until her husband pasted away. Her husband, Ronny, died four years ago, when she was 59. She took it hard, but as he was a strong believer in Christ, she believes him to be in Heaven, waiting for her.
