Character's Age: 15 years old
Family: Carter
Position in Family:
Child
Hair Color:
Keefe has thick, curly hair. The main color is dark brown, but he has some lighter streaks that make it seem muddy. He lacks the curl that falls across his brother's forehead.
Eye Color:
Keefe is far sharper than his brother, though his eyes are the same dark, chocolate-brown color. His eyes are quick, sharp and penetrating, much like the eyes of an eagle.
Wearing:
Keefe doesn't like to draw too much attention to himself, liking the darker colors like maroon and black. Still, don't be surprised if he chooses to wear one of those bright-colored t-shirts with a sarcastic remark (his favorite being, "someday I'll be your boss") on it. He practically never wears jackets, even when it's freezing outside, and generally wears dark-colored jeans.
Likes:
Keefe likes to keep active and has an almost obsessive zeal for getting the job done, hardly ever taking a break until he's completed his task. He likes pitting his mind against the toughest mysteries and searching out the darkest secrets he can find, and he likes it even more when he solves it or discovers it. He likes being acknowledged, and the concept of being in love.
Dislikes:
The one thing Keefe hates more than anything else in this world is people trying to analyze him. He doesn't like being asked personal questions, nor does he enjoy having to trust someone he doesn't know. He is bitter toward those who obviously know more than he does, and he gets suspicious of those who hand out more compliments than he thinks is needed.
Closeness: Yes
If yes who?: Cormac
Personality:
Though both boys are a bit combative, Keefe is far more interested in fighting and intends to win, even if his opponent is stronger or smarter than he is. He keeps his own thoughts a secret, but can easily discover the secrets of his friends and family. He never quite outgrew the habit of taking revenge on those who break his things; careful with them.
History:
Keefe is a full-blooded Carter, making him the son of Regina, older brother of Skylar, younger brother of Josh, twin brother of Cormac, older step-brother of Abby, and the younger step-brother of Lydia. He managed to escape the dog that attacked Cormac when the two were about six, but thanks to their bond, he has a jumble of memories from the incident that aren't his own.
Pets:
None (would like a snake, but doesn't trust the little kids to not let it out and get themselves hurt).
Other:
Keefe has been known to suffer from severe coughs and other illnesses that attack his respritory system from time to time, but he usually bounces back in a matter of days. He stays away from sports because of this, and his voice is somewhat rough and gravelly, damaged by the heavy amount of coughing. He experiments with his and Cormac's bond and thinks that he may be able to talk with him via thoughts.
Roleplaying Example:
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick...

Mahogany eyes narrowed intently at the reflective circular face of the clock, focused hard on the tip of the tallest, thinnest hand as it inched its way around. There was little to no light in the room to reflect off the protective lens across the irises; they were dark, nearly swallowed up in the soft, yet opressive blackness of the room.

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick...

2:30am.

Who else was crazy enough to still be awake at such a time?

Who else had dared resist the gentle call of the moon? Who was he to refuse the resting time the unforgiving Sun had so graciously given him?

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick...

A cool night air breeze blew through an open window, chilling the lone conscious soul in the small, cramped room. The boy shivered, curling his lip slightly in annoyance, more startled than he was cold. Why had he left that open? He sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed and turning his sharp, intense eyes to the world outside.

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick...

A few stars twinkled here and there, glad to be out from behind the clouds that winter had brung and spring had chased away. Keefe stared at them for a few seconds, their light, even from so far away, finally giving some glitter and brightness to his dark eyes. Strangely and suddenly fasinated, the boy stood up and made his way over to the window.

The floor of the old house creaked softly as the curly-haired lad's weight pressed down against it, the sound muffled and gentler than it may have been if he had been wearing shoes or even socks rather than barefoot. Keefe flinched nonetheless, glancing over his shoulder at his brother, who slept onward. Once sure that his twin hadn't heard him, he stepped lighter as he made the rest of the trip, this time in silence.

Once there, he leaned slightly against the sill and stuck his head and shoulders outside, supporting himself with his elbows. He tilted his head back to look at the sky, another breeze tugging gently at his dark curls the way his baby sister seemed to enjoy during the day, when she was awake.

A few bold, daring crickets had decided to brave the still somewhat cold night, and were defiantly chirr-upping away. Keefe tilted his head to one side and listened intently, smiling slightly to himself. He admired the crickets, the owls, and the other mysterious creatures that chose to hide in the cover of night.

Another creak of the floorboard, and the Carter boy had spun around to face the intruder in a simple fraction of a second, his face calm but his eyes sparking with the fierceness that only came from terror. A light flicked on before he could see this person's face, and like a monster newly exposed to light Keefe hid his face, temporarily blinded.

"Go to sleep already, will you? You're making me nervous."

Keefe peeked through his fingers, his eyes slowly adjusting to the brightness. He recognized the stranger as his brother Cormac, and his muscles relaxed and loosened now that the chance of a threat was gone. "Fine," he muttered, turning back to close the window, "just turn off the light and don't touch it again."
